Songwriterin Amanda Ghost neue Präsidentin von Epic Records
Ein Geniestreich oder doch nur eine Verzweiflungs-PR-Kapriole?
Amanda Ghost ist wie der Name sagt eine Ghostwriterin. Unter anderem komponierte sie James Blunts Göbel-Hit “You’re beautiful”, schrieb aber auch für Shakira & Beyoncé’s “Liar”. Nun ist sie als neue Präsidentin von Epic Records (Sony/Columbia/Epic) ernannt worden. Millionen Platten hat sie also verkauft, ob sie nun in der Wirtschaftsposition genauso erfolgreich ist, muss sich wohl erst noch beweisen.
“I’m not a conventional choice as an executive in the music business, but it is testament to the new mood at Sony where content is now king and the music business is being put back in the hands of creative talent such as myself. I’m here to draw on my experiences as an artist, songwriter and producer to make the new and existing artists signed to Epic as brilliant and successful as possible.”, heißt es von Ghost
Was ist los im Major-Business? Haben jetzt endlich die Künstler die Macht übernommen oder ist es doch eher der finale Abgesang.
“I am delighted that Amanda has chosen to bring her creative vision and flair to the Epic label. In the changing environment of the music business record labels undoubtedly need to be complete partners with the artistic community and Amanda will be the perfect executive to meet that challenge,” heißt es von Rob Stringer, Chairman der Columbia/Epic Label Group
