Emotibuds

Beim Stöbern gestern Nacht bin ich via Coolhunter auf diese ulkigen Dinger gestoßen: Emotibuds. Eigentlich sind sie genaugenommen nicht mehr als ziemlich überflüssiger Schmuck für den iPod-Kopfhörer mit den verschiedensten Icons für diverse Stimmungslagen, wenngleich zugegebenermaßen irgendwie ganz niedlich, wenn man auf Kindchenschema-Kitsch steht. – Allerdings haben ihnen ihre Erfinder einen netten Überbau verpasst:

Emotibuds: The Story
The first emotibuds were discovered in a retired train car in Sunnyside Yard, New York City. Scientists suspect that an unwitting commuter spawned these expressive little creatures with the intensity of her emotions as she shuffled through the music collection on her iPod. The result has now been reproduced in top research labs all around the world, and new emotibuds are created every day.

What the heck are emotibuds?
Emotibuds are small, whimsical adornments that slip onto the outside of your Apple iPod earbuds, turning the digital device into a vehicle for self-expression. The concept and design of emotibuds draws on the ubiquitous “emoticons” of the online world and allows users to bring such conscious expression into social space. They are fashion for the idea-conscious. They are ideas for the fashion-conscious. Mostly, though, emotibuds are just weird and cool little creatures.

Bisher findet man sie auf der Website in den Ausführungen ruhig, skeptisch, neurotisch und naiv, aber weitere sind angekündigt. Und wer gute Ideen für neue Motive hat, ist zum Mitmachen eingeladen.
