Norman Fairbanks – L.A. Machine
Kraftwerk, Lynch and a series of events in time.

Sounds without context don’t make a story, or at least not an audio concept. This seems contrary to my previous recordings, where I claim that pieces taken out of their original context make sense, if put into a new one. I suppose, this time it’s different. If you arrange recorded pasts in a row, connected with each other, then all single parts suddenly draw an aural route and form a new experience, made of elapsed events.
L.A. Machine is a series of such events, combined with sound from custom made machines, recitals of David Lynch and Pink Floyd lyrics, very simple as well as ambiguous Kraftwerk cover versions and new electronic pieces (surprise: they’re ALL made with the TO). Sounds like truly eclectic ingredients for an audio concept and in fact, that’s essentially L.A. Machine. This sonic trip will make you feel like walking in my footsteps, becoming a witness of my life throughout a few days in August this year,…
Hollace M. Metzger supported this audio concept with her voice and with lyrics especially written for this release, thus providing substantial creative input to the overall work.
