Featured DJ in our podcast this week is Philogresz, or Ilker Soylu to his mum, known from his releases of minimalistic, yet sensual techno-house on Team Records and Ware.

Born in Turkey’s metropolis Istanbul at the beginning of the 80s, Philogresz moved to the Netherlands in the summer of 2002 to started his education in music production at the Art Academy of Utrecht (HKU).

Philogresz became part of the Dutch electronic music scene as a DJ, promoter, and producer for local labels such as Manual Music and Sound Architecture, and in 2009 signed to Mathias Schaffhäuser’s prestigious Ware label with his ‘Milestone EP‘.

His home town, Istanbul, has remained a strong focal point for Philogresz over all these years howeverhowever: Once a month he travels there as a resident DJ in the city’s hip Otto club.
