Mit Maschine, APC 40, Nord Micro Modular und dem Evolver unterwegs Please describe your setup on stage! Regarding my live setup, i have some elements i always use and i have some “satellite” elements, which i change from time to time. I always use as mixer a Mackie 1604 VLZ Pro, i use as soundcard a Motu Ultralite MK3 and as midi controller an Akai Apc 40. As external sound i use usually a Nord Micro Modular, and sometimes i use a Evolver from Dave Smith Instruments or a MFB synth 2. ( i like this small synth size, easy to transport ) . Before i used my Machinedrum from Elektron, but now i use Maschine from NI where i put my kit inside. As effect i like to use a guitar effect from Boss and a Peavey effect and i also use Ableton Live. Which ingredients make a setup perfect? What do you need your setup to do? To me it should be something compact, easy and fast reacting, and something where you have an instant access without spending too much time on watching the instrument. What kind of problems are you always facing while performing? The problem which happend to me is that during the sound check all sounds great, the monitors sound good and powerful. When you start to play the monitors suddenly don´t sound powerful anymore and you need power but its already the maximum. And also your live-set depends on the will of the machine(s) you use, so there is always a little bit of stress involved when the machine doesn´t respond the way it is supposed to and you start to feel not comfortable anymore. That´s when it sucks. And what i really dont like is to not get the mixer i requested for my live-set but another brand which i totally don´t like or am not used to. Laptop yes or no? Pros and Cons, if there are any… Many years i never had a laptop during my live, then for convenience and transport, laptop was the good point…but i still think that live without laptop is the coolest.:) That´s because with with as laptop you never know what the guy is doing with it….
